Mummy's Pregnancy

Not the easiest of pregnancies

Saturday 21st June 2003

Today was the day that the new Harry Potter book came out. Dad was up bright and early to get a pregnancy test for Mum. She had been feeling very tired and was a week late.

When daddy got back, they tested and it was a big, fat positive. They didnt believe it so tested again and that was positive too!! They knew I was on the way.

Monday 23rd June 2003

Mummy had been at work all day, but when she got home she started to bleed. After speaking to NHS Direct, mummy and daddy tried to get some sleep.

Thursday 26th June 2003

After seeing the doctor on Tuesday, mum and dad were given an appointment today for an early scan.

They were met by a lovely lady, who found a healthy pregnancy sac and gave me an EDD of 23rd Feb 2004.

Thursday 17th July 2003

Today is Mummy's repeat scan.

Its the same lady as before and she straight away finds me. She shows mummy and daddy my heart beating and my arms and legs.

There is a funny moment when the lady says she thought there were two heartbeats!! Mummy and Daddy almost fell over, but the lady soon discovers that one is my umbilical cord.

Thursday 21st August 2003

Daddy and Mummy have just had a nice 2 week holiday in South France. It was a bit too hot for Mummy's liking (44 degrees!!) and she almost fainted twice.

Today is the day for the nuchal scan. They get a video tape of me along with lots of piccies. All is well.

Tuesday 14th October 2003

Today Mummy has her routine scan. I was sitting very nicely until the lady started prodding. It made me straighten my legs, and move across the screen.

They were now no longer in doubt that they were having a little boy, because in true male fashion I wanted to show off!

Sunday 21st December 2003

All had been going well until last night, when Mummy started to bleed.

Daddy rushed her to hospital where she was given 2 steroid injections to help my lungs if I came early.

We are admitted to hospital and that night Mummy starts having contractions. Daddy arrives and so does Grandma.

The doctors are desperately trying to find a SCBU bed and somewhere for Mummy, but there are no places in over 34 hospitals, as far away as Poole, Dorset.

Luckily the tablet they give Mummy works, the pain stops and we are eventually allowed home on Christmas Eve!!

Thursday 8th January 2004

Mummy and Daddy have been at the hospital for regular checks and scans and the doctors have been worried that Im not growing properly.

They have been in today for their first ante-natal class. However, within three hour of it finishing they are back as mummy is having pains very 5 mins.

Mum and dad try to sleep but the pains are still there and not stopping.

The next day Mum is given another tablet, and the pains stop that afternoon. We are let outof hospital a few days later.

Mummy kept me in until she was 37 weeks and 4 days.

Here is me at my 13 week scan.  Im waving my arm!!

My names.

Once mum and dad found out they were going to have a little boy they had to decide on names.  They couldnt agree for weeks, but eventually decided on Michael Oliver Jack Walker.

Michael is a name they both liked, it is also both my grandads names.

Oliver was chosen after my great nan, Olivia.

Jack was chosen because it was my great grandads name.
