Last night Mummy thought her waters went. She was having pains
every 5 minutes, but they stopped just before Friends and ER started.
The hospital told her to come in this morning if they hadn't
started again.
Mummy and daddy arrived at 9.45 am and are met by the midwife
who will look after us, Lidia.
Mummy is asked lots of questions and is checked over by Lidia,
who, at midday gives mummy a sweep. She is already 2-3cms dilated and the midwife could tell I had hair!!
She tells mummy and daddy to go for a walk to get things started.
They go outside to phone my grandparents, and soon the pains are coming every 5 minutes.
At 3pm, Mummy's community midwife pops in to see her and say
hello. When she goes, daddy pops outside to update everyone.
While he is gone, Mummy has a show and her waters break. The
pains are now coming every minute and a half and lasting a minute.
When daddy comes back they try a hot bath, a birthing ball
and gas and air,but none of it is taking away mummy's pain. By 6.30 pm she has asked for an epidural.
Within 10 minutes of the epidural Mummy is in no pain and has
a little doze. But she wakes daddy at 8 o'clock to say she is ready to push.
Daddy gets the midwife, Brenda(Lidia finished at 7.45pm), who
checks mummy and says she is fully dilated, but I am in an awkward position, she tells me not to push and comes back at 9pm.
By nine I had moved, so mummy was told to do a few little pushes.
Mummy can feel them but is also watching them on the monitor. She gets in a better position and I make my way into the world
at 10.36pm.
Daddy was there for all of it and watched me being born. He
even cut my cord after I was placed on Mummy's tummy!!!
