My Tongue Tie Story

The story starts the day after i was born.

Here are some pictures of me when I had my tongue tie.  See, there is no tongue!!

My tongue tie was discovered the day after I was born.  Mummy was repeatedly told over the coming days and weeks that tongue tie does not affect breastfeeding.  Mummy agrees it doesn't affect everyone, but it did me.

I wasn't able to feed from mummy and after a shaky start to my life, settled into formula feeding.

Mummy spoke to lots of doctor's and health visitors in order to get my tongue tie clipped.  Nobody would help.  After speaking to 3 doctors, we finally found one who agreed my tongue needed sorting.

He gave me a referral, but advised that Medway Health Authority do not like doing this before 1 year old, ages away!

Well, after just over 2 months, mummy and daddy were fed up with waiting.  They found a lovely doctor in Aldershot who would help.

On Wednesday 9th June 2004, mummy, grandma & grandad arrived at Aldershot Health Centre.  We were quickly called to meet the doctor, Dr Janice Haywood.  She spoke with mummy and grandma, while I laughed at her waving her hands around!

Soon she took me to another room where they wrapped me in a blanket (i didn't like it) and clipped my tongue tie.  I was only away from mummy for 3 mins and whn I got back I had some milk and went to sleep.

Now, I am able to poke my tongue right out.  I have no trouble eating my dinner and will be able to kiss all those girls with no worries.
